- Design, construction, and installation of a microscopy platform for in vivo imaging of calcium kinetics in cells and tissue slides
- Operation and maintenance of imaging systems
- Writing of software for scientific equipment
- Troubleshooting, calibration, and repair of electronic and scientific equipment used in a variety of experiments (e.g., luminescence and fluorescence plate readers, extracellular flux analyzer, robotic stations, standard chemical laboratory apparatus, temperature controllers, centrifuges, and water bath)
- Organization and maintenance of laboratory stocks in liquid nitrogen tanks
- Training of laboratory members
- Diploma in electrical and electronic engineering, or equivalent
- Good knowledge of physics and electrical systems
- Good verbal and written communication in German
- Self-motivation, initiative and dependability as a team player
- Willingness to learn new laboratory techniques and work with mouse models

We are looking for a highly motivated electronics research technician to join our international research team at the Institute for Diabetes and Obesity (IDO) of the (HDC) in Munich. Helmholtz Munich is a member of one of the leading research associations in Europe – the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers.
Our laboratory (Research Unit in Functional Genomics of Mitochondria, headed by Prof. Fabiana Perocchi) is interested in the study of mitochondrial calcium signalling and how its dis-homeostasis affects neurological and metabolic disorders. To this we develop and apply experimental and computational strategies to predict, test, and reverse the effects of genetic and chemical perturbations on mitochondrial calcium uptake and downstream signalling cascades.
