Beschreibung

The Genomics Research Center (GRC) is a center of excellence for genetics and genomics that supports both Discovery and Development.

The GRC plays an integral role towards our goal of developing extraordinary genetics and genomics research, focusing on finding the right targets and helping us better understand not only human disease biology but also the behavior of and response to our drugs in clinical trials.

Within the GRC, the Department of Bioinformatics is responsible for data analysis and provides analytical insight for both internal and external data.

This involves the identification and characterization of underlying genetic, epigenetic, or genomic factors that are associated with disease diagnosis, prognosis, and response (efficacy and safety) to drug treatment, identification of new targets, and interpretation of the impact of genetic and genomic evidence from population-based studies.

To meet these challenges, we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Scientist II, Informatics.

This role provides individual contributions in addition to leadership for the Data Integration and Accessibility sub-team within GRC Bioinformatics Engineering.

The position is in Ludwigshafen, Germany, and reports directly to the Head of GRC Bioinformatics Engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive bioinformatic engineering projects for data processing, analysis, and integration, primarily in the immunology and neuroscience therapeutic areas with collaborative opportunities across other therapeutic and functional areas.
  • Interface with IR's Convergence Catalysts and AbbVie Research Convergence Hub (ARCH) teams to support the GRC's Convergence efforts.
  • Develop and implement the GRC's common data models for multiple omics data types in collaboration across multiple teams and organizations.
  • Contribute to development of BE's standardized bioinformatics pipelines (e.g. scRNAseq) by aligning with stakeholder working groups to achieve process consensus and standardization.
  • Provide direct personnel leadership for the Data Integration and Accessibility subteam where required (FTE, contractor).
  • PhD in Bioinformatics or related field with 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with crossfunctional teams, including scientists, engineers, and project managers.
  • Strong experience with R, SQL, and other programming languages commonly used in bioinformatics.
  • Proficiency in performing data analysis and visualization using Rshiny, ggplot, and other relevant tools.
  • Experience with scRNAseq data processing and analysis, accompanied with experience building CWL workflows.
  • Knowledge of genetics, genomics, and molecular biology concepts.
  • Familiarity with various databases commonly used in bioinformatics, such as NCBI, Ensembl, and UniProt.
  • Experience with cloudbased infrastructure, such as AWS or GCP.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis and machine learning techniques.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to stay uptodate with new technologies and trends in the field of bioinformatics.
  • Preferred: Experience with ODINbackend development and curation of historical Neuro omics data.
