Beschreibung

Become part of the Algorithmic Research and Neural Networks Group, R&D department at Sivantos GmbH and carry on an exciting scientific project in the field of deep learning.

The project is suitable to an intern (M/F/d) or a bachelor's or master's student (M/F/d) to complete your thesis.

What you will do:

Project summary

Goal
Implementation of a lightweight recurrent neural network for spoken language identification (SLID) that runs on a PC/laptop.

The algorithm design should, to some extent, consider the requirements and resource limitations of HAs or cell phones, though an implementation really suitable for these computationally limited devices is left for future work.

Tasks/Method
Depending on the agreed type and duration of the project, the following tasks might be included:

  • Suggest a short list of languages or a clustering of languages that we would like to identify
  • Literature review of neural networks for spoken language identification, particularly recurrent neural networks (RNNs)
  • Creation of a training data pipeline using publicly available databases.
  • Implementation, training, and optimization of a DNN (e.g., an RNN) for SLID
  • Analysis of computational cost, latency, memory requirements, etc.
  • In detail evaluation of the classification rate using validation/test data, other public databases, and companyinternal HA recordings

What you bring:

  • Enrolled student (M/F/d) in the fields of computer science, information technology, electrical engineering, communications engineering, or similar
  • Great programming skills, especially with Python and knowledge of relevant libraries (numpy, matplotlib, etc).
  • Knowledge of a deep learning framework, preferably PyTorch or TensorFlow
  • Independent and reliable working style and enjoy developing and experimenting with your own code
  • Good German or English spoken and written
  • Knowledge of (audio) signal processing
