With the growing focus on electrified vehicles, electric machines play a crucial role as energy converters. Their performance significantly impact customer expectations regarding driving pleasure, comfort, power consumption, etc.
At Mercedes-Benz AG, the RD/ETS department is responsible for the development of transmission and inverter software for hybrid and electric vehicles.
We are currently looking for a highly motivated and talented Master's student to join our team at Mercedes-Benz and contribute to the advancement of electric vehicle technology through research and writing a Master's thesis in the field of traction motor control algorithms.
Main Responsibilities:
- Conducting a comprehensive literature review to establish a strong foundation for the researchEnhancing the implementation of the existing current controller and developing innovative functions with a focus on dynamic performance (settling time, overshoots, current trajectories, DClink voltage variation, etc.) and on operating the machine/inverter at their limitsImplementing and simulating the developed methods using the Matlab/Simulink environmentValidating the developed functions and concepts through testing on HardwareintheLoop (HIL), Power-HIL, and testbenches The final choice of the thesis topic will be determined through collaboration with the university and our team, ensuring alignment with your interests and expertise.

Requirements:
- Currently enrolled as a Master's student in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a comparable degree programStrong theoretical knowledge of electric machines and their control methodsExcellent knowledge of MATLAB and SimulinkFamiliarity with control algorithm design and implementationStrong problemsolving and analytical skillsHigh motivation and a strong commitment to excellenceAbility to work independently, systematically, and with a solutionoriented mindset while maintaining a high level of quality awarenessProficient in English language, German is a plus
