A major key to success in facing climate change and creating more resilient supply chains is the transformation of feedstocks from fossil resources to renewable raw materials.

Led by the Hamburg University of Technology, the CRC 1615 is developing processes and reactors that respond flexibly to the fluctuating properties of renewable raw materials, thus enabling self-adapting, more resilient process engineering


Project C03:

SMART multiphase reactor for the catalytic hydrogenolysis of glycerol

The kinetics and process parameters of the hydrogenolysis of glycerol to 1,2-propanediol are investigated in a slurry reactor at the beginning of the funding period.


YOUR TASKS

  • Work in a scientific project within the framework of the collaborative research center CRC 1615, in subproject C0
  • Design and manufacturing of a novel SMART pilot reactor with various operando diagnostic tools to study glycerol hydrogenolysis
  • Systematic reactor measurements and reactor modelling. process optimization
  • Publication of scientific papers in professional journals and at scientific conferences

YOUR PROFILE

  • Knowledge in the field of heterogeneous catalysis or in the field of multiphase flows and practical laboratory experience in dealing with chemical reactors is an advantage
  • The ability to work in a team, high flexibility, commitment and resilience, as well as independent and responsible action are desired

  • Very good knowledge of the English language is required for project management and publication work
  • Commitment to university teaching is expected.
