Your working environment

  • The Mobility Strategy unit of the Volkswagen Group Strategy develops approaches for the evaluation of future mobility solutions leveraging agentbased mobility simulations (MATSim). This requires regionspecific and statistically representative models of the mobility demand and supply, which must be generated from public or purchasable data sources.
Your tasks

  • Familiarization with the source code (Java) of a mobility model generation process
  • Support in extending the model generation process, e.g. with new data sources and modules
  • Creation, calibration, and validation of mobility models using the model generation process
  • Research and preparation of new international data sources (Open Data)
  • Visualization and communication of generated mobility models
  • Coordination of requirements for the generated mobility models with brands (e.g. MOIA, ADMT)
Your qualifications

  • Studies in computer science, engineering, mathematics or a comparable field
  • Sound programming skills in Java as well as knowledge of common methods of software development and algorithms and data structures
  • Knowledge of traffic engineering and machine learning is desirable
  • Experience in dealing with large data sets and statistical methods or dependency injection frameworks (Google Guice) would be an advantage.
  • Good English skills, both written and spoken
  • Desired duration min. 4 months
