For the Institute of Botany we are looking for a

Technical Assistant (M/F/d)

Full-time positions are generally divisible.


For our collaborative and open-minded institute, we are looking for a technical assistant to support the development of the laboratories in the new working groups Ecosystem Research (Prof Emma Sayer) and Molecular Botany (Prof Martin Stegmann).

Current projects include the effects of climate change on ecological processes and the molecular mechanisms of the plant immune system (including its interplay with abiotic environmental influences).

Your profile:


  • Completed training as a biologicaltechnical assistant or a degree in biology with experience as a technical assistant
  • Experience in chemical analysis and ecological field work
  • Knowledge of molecular biological laboratory work (handling DNA, RNA and protein analytical methods)
  • Very good knowledge of English and enthusiasm for work in an international research environment
  • High level of commitment, ability to work in a team and reliability as well as independent working style and organisational talent

Your responsibilities:


  • Chemical analyses of plant and soil samples
  • Support in the establishment of new functional assays
  • Support with ecological laboratory experiments and field work
  • RNA, DNA and protein extraction from plant material
  • Preparation of samples for next generation sequencing
  • Molecular biology work (including support with cloning)
