We now have an exciting opportunity for a

Operative Purchaser M/F/d
to join our New Build (NB) Project Purchasing team in our Fresh Water Generation business based in
Geesthacht, Germany. The position is permanent.

What will you be doing?

As an Operative Purchaser, you will be embedded into the NB Project Purchasing t team and will support purchasing activities across multiple projects ensuring that the correct buying channels are utilised, internal procedures followed and maximizing supplier value and performance for the Wärtsilä's Water Systems Ltd business line.

As Operative Purchaser M/F/d, your work will focus on these responsibilities:

Review and validate purchase requisitions and purchase orders in line with MRP demand for direct and indirect products/services.
Participate in supplier discussions.
Effectively investigate discrepancies in a timely manner and ensure all relevant stakeholders are updated.
Manage nonconformance, rejections & returns with suppliers, and Quality Assurance and Quality Control.
Support the Supply Chain function to establish, maintain and monitor KPI's to optimise supply chain performance in support of spares and production requirements.
Develop cross company competencies that will contribute to the development of both the Supply Chain and general business performance.
Place purchase orders obtain confirmations and expedite orders to ensure ontime delivery.
Action Quality Rejects and Quality Investigation Reports in a timely manner by liaising with suppliers and quality personnel.
Monitor & track supplier performance and escalate issues accordingly.
Participate in the development of and become an expert user in the Purchasing/Planning modules within SAP.

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

A formal qualification within purchasing is desired e.g.
Proven background within a purchasing environment or any admins expertise in supply chain management
SAP experience is an advantage
Basic understanding of project management
A customer service mindset with the ability to manage several priorities simultaneously.
Proactive and positive individual with a team player attitude
Effective negotiator
Exposure within manufacturing environments
Strong communicator across all stakeholders and customers
Sound knowledge of the Marine industry is desired
Fluent German language
English language can be an advantage
