Beschreibung
Valeo is a tech global company, designing breakthrough solutions to reinvent the mobility. We are an automotive supplier partner to automakers and new mobility actors worldwide. Our vision? Invent a greener and more secured mobility, thanks to solutions focusing on intuitive driving and reducing CO2 emissions.
We are leader on our businesses, and recognized as one of the largest global innovative companies. This role would make you a part of our Powertrain Electrified Mobility (PEM) business unit.
In PEM we research, develop and test HV components and systems for the electric powertrain of hybrid and pure electric vehicles.
This is what PEM in HERZOGENAURACH offers:
One of the most attractive collective agreements in the region (IG Metall).
A secure job in the future field of the automotive industry.
Professional trainings and career opportunities worldwide.
Hybrid working models for an optimal work-life balance.
Allowances for sports, JobBikes, health, pension scheme, canteen, etc.

Master Thesis (M/F/d) eAxle
Aim of Thesis:
E-Axle of passenger car undergoes several types of stress from which torsional load caused by the eMotor torque and reaction forces acting on the eAxle mounts.
Finite Element Analysis, is used in this context to predict potential damages to the system structure in order to verify and optimize the design keeping in consideration constraints and customer requirements.
Due to non-linearities and unknown in the FEA model, such as rubber mount material, bearing stiffness and brace contacts, damping effects as well as aluminum casting uncertainties the predictivity of the model is being reduced.
This project aims to analyze the FEA approach by comparing different methodologies and considering the sensitivity of the main parameters and loads involved in the simulation.
These challenges await you to complete your master thesis:
- Literature review on different modelling approach on the nonlinear aspects of the FEA model
- Building and set up a simulation model of a eAxle
- Identification of static load cases affecting eAxle endurance. e.g. Torque, bearing tolerance and reactions, gravity, presfit, bold preload, thermal expansion, residual stress
- Assessment of their sensitivity and criticality
- Define a matrix to assess the combination of parameters with load cases aiming to identify the most relevant cases to be correlated
- Strain gauge measurements at eAxle Test bench of the identified cases
- Post processing measurement and comparison vs simulation results
- Assessment of different Simulation Approaches
Qualifications:
- Master student in mechanical, electrical, aerospace or computational engineering, physics, applied mathematics or equivalent
- Familiar with FEA Ansys Mechanical tool
- Good English reading and writing skills
