Beschreibung
TUD Dresden University of Technology, as a University of Excellence, is one of the leading and most
dynamic research institutions in the country. Founded in 1828, today it is a globally oriented,
regionally anchored top university as it focuses on the grand challenges of the 21st century. It
develops innovative solutions for the world's most pressing issues. In research and academic
programs, the university unites the natural and engineering sciences with the humanities, social
sciences and medicine. This wide range of disciplines is a special feature, facilitating interdisciplinarity
and transfer of science to society. As a modern employer, it offers attractive working conditions to all
employees in teaching, research, technology and administration. The goal is to promote and develop
their individual abilities while empowering everyone to reach their full potential. TUD embodies a
university culture that is characterized by cosmopolitanism, mutual appreciation, thriving innovation
and active participation. For TUD diversity is an essential feature and a quality criterion of an excellent
university. Accordingly, we welcome all applicants who would like to commit themselves, their
achievements and productivity to the success of the whole institution.

Chair (W2) of Epigenomics of Neural Development
at the
earliest possible date.

focus of your work will be on the role of epigenetic mechanisms, particularly histone methylation, in
neural gene expression in the neocortex. You will use animal and human models, such as _in vivo_
models, patient samples, and brain organoids, to study the regulation of neural stem cells and their
differentiation in development, evolution, and human pathologies. Your research to characterize and
functionally study the epigenome, e.g., by editing the epigenome, should be at the interface between
basic and translational research. In this context, a particularly close collaboration with the Center for
Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD) is sought. Furthermore, in cooperation with the Cluster of
Excellence "Physics of Life" (PoL), an integrated approach regarding stem cell behavior, regeneration,
evolution and tissue formation will be pursued. We expect you to participate in interdisciplinary
collaborative projects, contribute to overarching initiatives such as the Excellence Strategy, and
actively support academic self-administration.

TUD offers a unique research environment in the field of life sciences. The strong interdisciplinary
network between the Faculty of Biology and the Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD) is
complemented by university partners such as the Biotechnology Center (BIOTEC), the Center for
Molecular Bioengineering (B CUBE), the Carl Gustav Carus Faculty of Medicine, the Dresden
- university research institutes such as the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics

You have an excellent international reputation in the field of epigenetic regulation of brain
development. Using animal and complex human models, your research focuses on the evolution of
the neocortex and neurodevelopmental disorders caused by mutations in epigenetic factors.
Prerequisites for being appointed include experience in teaching, outstanding international research
and publication results, and the acquisition of external funding. Within the framework of
undergraduate teaching in the Faculty of Biology, lectures are to be given in German. Applicants must

fulfil the employment qualification requirements of - 59 of the Institutions of Higher Education Act in
the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSG).

For further questions, please contact the head of the appointment committee, Prof. Thorsten

TUD strives to employ more women in academia and research. We therefore expressly encourage
women to apply. The University is a certified family-friendly university and offers a Dual Career
equally qualified, those with disabilities or with equivalent status pursuant to the German Social Code
IX (SGB IX) will receive priority for employment. If you have any questions about these topics, please
contact the Equal Opportunity Officer of the Faculty of Biology (Dr. Stefanie Wiedmer, phone
or the Representative of Employees with Disabilities (Roberto Lemmrich, phone
