A vacancy for a
Product Manager (d/f/m) has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space in Manching.

The jobholder will be part of the Avionic Joint Team (AJT) in
Warton (UK) as a Product Manager.


The advertised position requires a secondment/transfer to the UK
for a period of at least 2 years with the opportunity of extension in a local contractual framework.

The AJT is a multinational design team with staff drawn from the Eurofighter Partner Companies and based at Warton. It operates under Eurofighter GmbH process and control with BAE SYSTEMS PLC governance.

Its prime purpose is to manage the design and development, including the integration and certification, of the Eurofighter Typhoon Avionic System, plus the avionics overall integration with the other aircraft systems, such that the Avionics System meets the required performance effectively, and within the given timescales and costs.


Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Definition of the Product Content of an Avionics release, this will be documented in the ASR (Avionic System Requirement) and corresponding ASD (Avionic System Definition),
  • Ensuring the achievement of key deliverables of the AJT
  • Defining the SDP (System Development Plan) of the related program
  • Management of outputs required by other teams and dependencies into the AJT from other teams to discharge AJT activities
  • Ensuring there is a complete awareness across the subsystems as to the impact of their activities and any deviation of these activities from the agreed programme in terms of programme delay and increase of cost
  • Monitoring risk and the progress of the mitigation actions for those risks,
  • Representing the AJT in the integration and harmonisation of the system level plans and programmes with consideration for the EPC subsystems through discussion at the operations review
  • Attend the Operations meeting for the relevant contract,
  • Provide Technical and Programme information and briefings to the AJT Management Team and to EF
  • Primary interface to overall EF and EPC Avionics Product Managers
  • Bachelor or Master degree in Engineering
  • Verifiable work experience (25 years)
  • Experience in customer relations
  • Experience in management (EF or other projects)
  • Experience of front end development processes in EF or other projects
  • Knowledge of Agile Development
  • Knowledge of complex Systems and system architectures
  • Independent and responsible member of an international Team in a multinational project
  • Resultorientated
  • Good written and spoken English (project language)
  • German is a plus
For the position it is mandatory to have a valid German Security Clearance (Sicherheitsüberprüfung Ü2)
