Operational Engineering Lead Vaccines Manufacturing Group:

Purpose:


The technical breadth of the role extends across maintenance standards & performance; equipment reliability & performance; environmental sustainability; Engineering Compliance & adherence to related Engineering Standards & ways of working.

However, the individual's core accountability will be delivering improvement programs to achieve site's reliability, productivity & maintenance efficiency as well as responsibility of driving governance processes for Operational Engineering and Capital


Key responsibilities:


  • Deploy Operational excellence methods & programmes (including shop floor level if necessary) ensuring they deliver anticipated value in support Productivity targets (including Value Driven Maintenance, Total Productive Maintenance, LEAN tools, Reliability Based Maintenance, Vertical Start Up etc.)
  • Lead training to demonstrate methods & benefits, building capability through example
  • Embed self within site teams, remaining on site for extended periods, to identify improvement opportunities & drive sustainable performance improvement through site teams, delivering financial / productivity benefits
  • Once up & running, programme manage multiple sites through delivery of benefits
  • Ensure KPIs for Operational Engineering activities are in place / in use & effective in driving performance & improvement
  • Build mutually beneficial links / relationships with OEMs & service providers to enhance reliability, productivity & business benefits
  • Lead and use benchmarking internally & externally to identify best practice & improvement opportunities. Coach others to initiate Continuous Improvement programmes that challenge current manufacturing practice & drive performance
  • Play a lead role in development of central systems, standardising methodologies for efficient field deployment across MG
  • Define the overall Operational Engineering programme for sites, prioritising with GPS personnel where individual sites can gain greatest benefit & collaborating to realise productivity benefits
  • Ensure cost effective & comprehensive maintenance & capex "base spend" plans are implemented for production equipment. This should include Preventative, Predictive & Reliability Centred Maintenance programs as well as life cycle management assessments
  • Develop & deploy the overall capability strategy for operational engineering in the sites / Manufacturing Group. Demonstrate success through site performance improvement & enhanced site capabilities
  • Drive effective governance ensuring compliance with Engineering expectations, programmes & standards to agreed timescales & that they have robust governance processes to ensure sustained Engineering compliance
  • Drive effective Capital Governance co ordinating and assisting with the collation/ prioritization of the Vx Capital plan as input to the overall process for GSC

Basic Qualifications:


  • Engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation or Chemical Engineering
  • 10 years post graduate experience in a high intensity, highly cost focused manufacturing business
  • Demonstrated experience in delivery of operational efficiency is a must, as is deep experience in deployment of Lean, Total Productive Maintenance, continuous improvement, or equivalent toolkits
  • Must have experience in machines & production lines & in a high care / highly regulated environment such as pharma / biologics / vaccines
  • Must have experience in wide groups stakeholders' management including Senior Management
  • Change management skills are essential, plus the ability to relate to effectively communicate to & partner with all levels of the organiz
