For our client we are currently looking for an Expert on Energy Regulation and Market Design (M/F/d) for a freelance project - Ref 95047.


Project description:
Our client is a global engineering consultancy company, specialising in complex power system challenges. Their goal is to provide high quality solutions for the challenges of the energy transition.

Their multidisciplinary team of experts offer strategic, technical, and regulatory advice in all fields related to power transmission, as well as a range of specialist solutions to a diverse and international client base in the power sector.

Tasks:


As a senior expert on energy regulation and market design, you will provide top-rank consultancy in constant interaction with our worldwide energy clients, partners, and relevant departments within the client Group organisation.

You will support our clients in defining and implementing energy policies and regulatory framework reforms linked to the latest trends in the energy domains and decarbonisation.

You will guide the national and regional authorities in set-up trading environments and propose market structures and designs in Europe and worldwide.

You will provide valuable support to energy investors and developers in their business analysis related to interconnection projects and agreements, new energetics, and sector coupling.


Typical activities:

  • Advising clients on strategic issues related to existing and future legal, policy and regulatory frameworks, market design and contractual management
  • Supporting investors and developers in navigating the complex regulatory and market environments in which they operate
  • Performing market intelligence analysis for new energetics
  • Contributing to projects on establishing trading platforms and market operators, and implementing competitive national or regional trading of power, capacities, and ancillary services
  • Anticipating the changes in the power market landscape and defining the most suitable markets configurations or smart grid strategies by leading successful projects that provide value to customers and benefits to society
  • Support the company's business development team in identifying and pursuing opportunities by establishing trusted relationships with clients and development of proposals
  • Design and implementation of projects, including complicated businessrelated contractual negotiations. You lead projects' delivery related to energy policies, regulatory framework reforms, technical regulations, and market design/operations from regulatory, markets, or business points of view.

Your profile:

  • Master degree in Engineering, energy economics, laws or related fields
- many years of experience in the power sector and setting up pricing and RES support schemes

  • Deep understanding of the power sector, including power exchange, transmission, distribution, retail and generation
  • Deep Knowledge of a large variety of market design configurations and how they interact
  • Experience in the power trading business, including spot market, wholesale markets, trading of ancillary services, etc.
  • Ability to manage complex projects, processes, constantly linking strategic objectives and detailed technical aspects
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to manage complex processes and link strategic objectives and detailed technical aspects
  • Business Fluent in English ist a must have and Knowledge of German, Dutch and/or French is a strong asset

Main Location is Brussels:

  • Mobility required: 30% worldwide (willingness to travel abroad for international assignments depending on the business development or project needs).
