Job description:

In GIZ's Digital Transformation Cluster, we promote a sustainable, inclusive and sovereign digital development through "Tech4Good". To this end, we advise political partners and strengthen digital ecosystems in developing and emerging countries. E-learning, AI or blockchain - beyond the buzzwords, we analyse, develop, accelerate and scale innovative approaches and technologies.

We train and empower our partners in business, civil society and politics with the right tools to find sustainable and context-sensitive solutions to global and local problems together.


Your tasks:


  • Advise global and regional digital ecosystem partners (e.g., governments, tech companies, civil society) on the selfdetermined governance of digital transformation.
  • Manage the implementation of innovative cooperation projects to promote peoplecentered digital transformation alongside digital ecosystem partners.
  • Prepare and implement development partnerships with tech companies and civil society in development cooperation (DC) partner countries
  • Promote knowledge exchange on digital topics within GIZ and its partner system, for example through South-South cooperation, participation in communities of practice and innovative formats for knowledge transfer
  • Manage procurement and administrative processes in accordance with GIZ compliance and integrity rules

Your profile:


  • Completed university degree, ideally with a focus on digital transformation topics
  • Several years of relevant professional experience, preferably gained abroad, on topics in the nexus of digital transformation, digital trend technologies, global information society, or Internet policy
  • Practical experience in the implementation of innovative development cooperation projects together with partners of the digital ecosystem
  • Experience in the cooperation with international donors of Official Development Assistance, especially BMZ and the European Commission, on Digital4Development topics
  • Proven experience handling politically sensitive negotiations, ideally in intercultural contexts in partner countries of German development cooperation
  • Experience with agile project management methods (e.g. Scrum, Design Thinking)
  • Ability to think and act strategically and analytically, grasp concepts quickly and have an eye for the essentials
  • A strong collaborative approach, team orientation and gender competence; experience working in diverse intercultural contexts and remote teams
  • Business fluent in English; fluency in German, French or Spanish may be required depending on the assignment; other language skills are an asset

The willingness for frequent business trips is required.
