The Chair of Design Automation is looking for a postdoc (M/F/d) for a funded project for 2 years, in which manual procedures for the synthesis of transistor structure and parameter values of electronic operational amplifiers shall be implemented in an algorithm and a software tool.

Your responsibilities:


In recent work, a new method for (transistor) structure synthesis and initial sizing of analog operational amplifiers was developed and implemented.

It comprehensively considers the manual approach of circuit designers. The method has a search space of several thousand structure variants, all of which are technically reasonable.

It is based on a hierarchical functional block library, associated analytical performance equations, and initial sizing with these equations and constraint programming.


Your task is to further develop the methodology and the software with respect to more complex types of operational amplifiers.

These include, for example, operational amplifiers with more than two stages or more complex compensation mechanisms. Furthermore, transistor model values of further process technologies, other transistor models (e.g. EKV) and gm/id tables are to be implemented.


Your qualifications:


You have or are about to have a doctoral degree in electrical/computer engineering/science, mathematics or physics and have knowledge in the design of electronic operational amplifiers as well as in software implementation for electronic design automation.
