Automated Greenhouse Expert - Automation (all genders)

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You serve as technical expert for the operation of the automated greenhouse, including trouble shooting and maintenance planning
  • You provide handson support for all phases of the greenhouse and phenotyping automation including concept development, prototyping, design, procurement, construction, startup, testing, deployment, and sustainment of automated systems
  • You partner with various engineering disciplines, customers, and vendors/suppliers to ensure with the user team the successful operation and continuous development of greenhouse automation
  • As part of a research team, you provide technical inputs, knowledge transfer and guidance for other functional teams and team members to ensure smooth operation of the automated greenhouse

WHO YOU ARE

  • Degree in Plant Science, Agriculture, Horticulture or similar, with either Master degree, Bachelor degree with technical education and several years of relevant experience
  • Specialized greenhouse experience with strong mechanical aptitude and handson experience in troubleshooting automation
  • Experience with MS Office, computer and/or software systems used in scientific data analysis, with ability to quickly learn new software programs and tools like R, Python, Spotfire
  • Excellent organizational skills, highly developed problemsolving skills, and effective execution of operational strategies with a "can do" attitude
  • Demonstrated ability to manage ambiguity and high level of complexity very well as well as high degree of selfmotivation, ownership, proactivity, and ability to take/drive decisions
  • High degree of social competence, strong communication skills and stakeholder management as part of a team and across functions in a dynamic, highly collaborative work environment
  • Willingness to occasionally work on weekends to secure automation flow
  • Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken
