Your Role and Responsibilities

We develop using modern methods of the agile software engineering process.

We are part of an international and globally organized development team for IBM Z Systems Management and IT Optimization Software, located in Böblingen, the US and China.


What you will be doing:


You will have the chance to work on a research and validate solutions to implement a CI/CD pipeline for our existing z/OS management solution (Z System Automation).

Components of this product are implemented with different programming languages (C/C++, REXX, Assembler, Java and more), build with different grown build engines (Rational Team Concert, MAVEN, NPM) and tested with several tools like JUNIT, JEST and ROBOT Framework.


The scope of the internship is a research how this setup can be optimized and integrated into a build pipeline such as offered by Jenkins.


The future pipeline build solution has to enable both - private builds and tests for our developers as well as for regular product builds.


You will work together with other team members from our product development team in a very heterogenous environment: Windows, Linux, z/OS as well as virtual environments provided by DOCKER container any by different solutions available in the Cloud.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • You understand the principle ideas behind a CI/CD pipeline and ideally already have experience with tools like Git, GitHub, Jenkins, Maven, etc.
  • You are curious and interested in programming and know how to build programs in different programming languages (C/C++, REXX, Java, Javascript, Shell,...)
  • You have basic programming experiences in at least one of the above mentioned languages
  • You are thrilled by solving problems on your own but in a team that can help, whenever you have questions
  • You enjoy working in a motivated team
  • Language proficiency: Good English skills and German at least B1
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Basic knowledge about the product IBM Z System Automation
