Our Global Claims team is responsible for managing large claims, monitoring claims portfolios as well as providing claims services to Munich Re's clients globally.

The Global Claims Management team has developed and continuously works on the Global Claims Ambition 2025 in order to strive for a digital Claims transformation and at the same time increase the engagement with our internal partners and external clients.

We are looking for a strong team leader for the newly created section "Claims Governance".

This team has the responsibility for setting Claims governance standards and ensuring their timely implementation for all Munich Re Claims units worldwide.


Your Job

  • Lead and guide a specialized team of (Senior) Claims Consultants according to our Global Claims Leadership Values
  • Actively implement the future Global Claims Setup and advance our Global Claims Ambition 2025, as a member of the Claims Leadership Team
  • Develop and drive a strategy for Claims Governance for the Global Claims organization
  • Create and further enhance comprehensive Claims Guidelines and Work Instructions, standards and processes for Global Claims
  • Ensure up to date levels of authorities and system accesses are in place
  • Keep Claims Cooperation Guidelines up to date and track deliverables also during claims reviews
  • Proactive assessment of the potential impact of legal developments on claims work and amendment of guidelines and work instructions where necessary so that industry specifications, standards, regulations etc. are adequately reflected
  • Assess risks and identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability, define and review essential risks of the processes for claims management with regard to compliance, antifraud measures and others according to the Group Policies incl. rresponsibility for the facilitation of the regular ORCS (Operational Risk and Control) selfassessment of all Global Claims units and reassess classified risks on a regular basis
  • Manage Claims governance and quality assurance projects and programs to ensure claims are always kept in compliance
  • Ensure that the Claims business practices and products conform with insurance statutory and regulatory obligations
  • Manage reporting requirements, regulatory inquiries and investigate complaints; work with regulators on issues as needed
  • Prepare materials and information required in response to internal and external regulatory audits, data calls and surveys and assist in preparing responsive communications
  • Active involvement in claims topic related project work including project lead
  • Development of a training systematic for claims colleagues on specific governance topics
  • Annual planning of internal claims review activities
  • Conduct claims reviews as the review team lead with a focus on Governance, claims management and processing topics, interface management
  • Communication of results including areas for improvement in a professional way orally and in writing including appropriate followups
  • Partner with management across Global Claims to understand review tools, process, practices and address issues
  • Develop talents and contribute to the groupwide diversity and inclusion objectives

Your Profile

  • University degree in law or comparable formal qualification
  • Expert knowledge of reinsurance and/or primary insurance business in claims
  • Leadership experience:
  • Ability to lead and motivate highly qualified and diverse teams in a global setup
  • Change management skills
  • Experience in developing colleagues through coaching, feedback and providing opportunities
  • Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking
  • Excellent personal network within Munich Re
  • Fluent in spoken and written business English, further languages are an advantage
  • Regulatory/compliance insurance experience a plus
  • High level of commitment with a willingness to travel
