Responsibilities:


  • Strategic Liaison between the Global Sourcing and local Operations teams
  • Development of the department into a strategic organization in close cooperation with the Site Leader and Global Supply Chain
  • Responsible for operational execution of SCM projects at manufacturing site. Coordinate with SQEs on supplier issues
  • Oversee the local Operations Purchasing teams responsible for PO creation/placement/management and internal customer service requirements for raw materials, parts, and indirect services consumed in manufacturing
  • Key driver of KPI's, Consignment Value and Parts Inventory
  • Responsible for reporting operational metrics including, but not limited to: blanket PO performance, OTD, Increasing average spend per supplier & overall supplier performance
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices, current & future policies and procedures, regulatory & trade requirements, and market dynamics appropriate to function
  • Optimize utilization of ERP System and processes
  • Individual contributor performance management and development: coaching, motivating, performing employee reviews, KPI management, goal setting, and driving results
  • Implement inventory control programs including pay on consumption and JIT to achieve cash flow objectives without compromising material availability
  • Work closely with Operations Leadership, Planning & Engineering
  • Confirm buying compliance to corporate guidelines
  • Review purchase orders for accuracy and correctness, hold buyers responsible for delivery
  • Escalate to Commodity Managers and SQE on events like supplier insolvency, supply disruption due to quality, or any other drivers
  • Responsible for negotiating prices, pay terms, consignment and delivery expectations
  • Must be a strategic thinker who has input and influence in the direction of multiple sites. As a member of the sites' Operations leadership teams, it is crucial the individual is an active participant ensuring their perspective is heard and provides regular input. Anticipates and balances the needs of multiple stakeholders
  • Responsible for administrative coordination and acts as the single point of contact for internal and external communication from Purchasing department for that region
  • Work closely in supporting Global Sourcing Leaders like Commodity Managers, Supplier Quality Engineers and Commodity Analysts

Requirements:


  • Bachelor's Degree is required, preferably in technical field or equivalent, Master's degree preferred
  • 715 years of relevant industry experience with at least 5 years in purchasing with 3 years in either planning, quality, or manufacturing
  • Must have experience building strong customer relationships and delivering customer centric solutions. Must foster a customerfocused environment and ensures that organizational resources and support are focused on meeting customer needs
  • Good manufacturing process knowledge of Ferrous castings, machining, fabrication, and welding
  • Certified Six Sigma Green Belt preferred
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working within ERP systems
  • MS Office Suite experience; advanced Excel proficiency required, PowerPoint skills
  • Experience with Project Management software (MS Project, Smartsheet) is preferred
  • Excellent German and English language skills
The Regional Purchasing Manager is an integral part of both the Global Sourcing & Plant Operations teams.

This role acts as the strategic liaison between the global sourcing team and the tactical buying functions within the European Region.

Using knowledge driven sourcing strategies, the Strategic Sourcing Manager will help develop optimal solutions using their knowledge of engineering design, good manufacturing processes, cost modeling, & quality.

This position will be based in St. Georgen, Schwarzwald in Germany.
