Legal Counsel - Commercial Transactions, Technology (d/f/m)

Preferred locations:
Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg for collaboration and office-based work

The Role

We are looking for a creative and smart team player to join our Commercial Legal team in EMEA, with several years of post-qualification experience in an international law firm or an equivalent in-house position in a multinational corporation, who is passionate about making an impact and contributing to the transformation of our business in the same way as helping our clients to be successful.

You will be an integral part of the continued rapid growth of Cognizant's European operations.

You will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of business transactions, from consultancy contracts to multi-million-dollar complex technology or business outsourcing deals.

Primarily these will be in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) and other large markets in Continental Europe.

You will interact with clients in a broad range of industries and work on all phases of deals, from proactive shaping, proposal/bid review stages, right through to final negotiation, escalation to senior Cognizant leadership and working on post signature matters.

This is also an opportunity to really get under the skin of the business and become part of the deal-making teams and experience the digitalization of an industry, firsthand.

Your skills
You have strong academic credentials.

While commercial law experience in Germany or Switzerland is essential to this role, you must come with a commercially oriented mindset and curiosity for technical innovation.

Your experience in working on IT contracts, advising on GDPR and IP related issues is accompanied by the ability to balance legal risks with commercial and operational needs.

You aspire to make an impact and you desire to continuously learn.

What else is essential to be successful

Full legal qualification in D or CH with bar exam
Specialized expertise in regulated industries such as insurance or financial services is welcomed
Languages: German native; English full working proficiency, ability to work in French is a plus
Strong negotiation skills
Adaptable and impactful communication skills with people at all levels and backgrounds
Ability to multitask with rapidly changing priorities in a dynamic working environment
