Your future plans

Risk Controlling at RWE Supply & Trading GmbH ensures the effective risk control of trading activities by providing the Board with unbiased, comprehensive, accurate and timely information on market risk and performance.

As the second line of defence, the team is positioned close to the commercial desks with direct oversight of the various trading strategies and positions.

The team also provides advice to senior management, trading desks and the Finance department through the translation of market risk dato into value adding information.

Preparing accurate P&L, position and other risk reports for the desks' trading books on a daily and monthly basis
Providing detailed analysis of risk measures, positions, P&L and trading strategies for senior management, finance and Gas Portfolio Management on a regular basis
Working with the traders to identify, quantify and communicate the market risks they carry, but also confirming that they operate within the agreed framework and challenge decisions if necessary
Keeping up to date with market developments and providing frequent briefings to the team and stakeholders
Engaging in analysis, valuation and risk assessment of new markets, products or assets
Working on various projects and initiatives, collaborating with other Risk teams across locations, to deliver improvements across the business, which can include maintenance and enhancement of internal tools, Cloud migration of the deal capture and Risk reporting systems, illiquid risk and nonstandard risk methodology, storage and swing contract implementation in the trading system
Supporting the continuous improvement of proprietary risk controls, reporting and analysis in line with business requirements

Your powerful skills

Knowledge of Greeks, VaR concepts and stress testing
Knowledge of pricing models, option theory and Monte-Carlo simulation techniques
Good ability to selforganise and good attention to detail
Able to manage relationships with colleagues and stakeholders (both Support Functions and Front Office), to ensure good working relations and negotiated deliverables
University degree or equivalent, preferably in the field of Mathematics, Physics, Economics with quantitative focus or similar
Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English

Advantageous, but not a must

Strong understanding of commodity trading, trading lifecycle, physical asset trading instruments and financial trading instruments, including P&L reporting, MtM Accounting and GAAP
Knowledge of specialist IT systems and software, especially Open link Endur and Oracle SQL
Proven experience of project and process management with evidence of consistent delivery against targets and ability to manage workload in a pressurised environment
Fluent verbal and written communication skills in German
