Beschreibung

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable human settlements development and the achievement of adequate shelter for all.

For close to forty years, UN-Habitat has been working in human settlements throughout the world, focusing on building a brighter future for villages, towns, and cities of all sizes.

The position is in the Global Water Operators' Partnerships Alliance (GWOPA), UN-Habitat, Bonn, Germany.

The Global Water Operators' Partnerships Alliance (GWOPA), based in Bonn, Germany, helps water and sanitation operators help one another.

The Alliance is facilitated by by UN-Habitat, as an international network created in 2009 to support operators through Water Operator's Partnerships (WOPs) - not-for-profit peer support partnerships between water and sanitation operators aimed at enhancing their capacity and performance to provide a better service to more people in support of the SDGs.


The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), Global Water Operators' Partnership Alliance (Membership and Governance) internship is for six (6) months.

The Internship is UNPAID and full-time.


Interns work five days per week under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.


Responsibilities:

Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background, the intern's assigned office as well as the internship period.

Under the direct supervision of the Programme Management Officer, the intern will:

  • Manage membership database.
  • Map membership gaps and identification of potential new members.
  • Review communications material on membership.
  • Develop targeted advocacy material.
  • Develop communications material on members in collaboration with communications specialist.
  • Map existing national and regional utilities associations worldwide.
  • Follow up on development of Memorandum of Understanding with WOP platforms, including development of annual road maps with WOP platforms.
  • Develop guidance material on establishment of national and regional WOP platforms, with a specific focus on Ethiopia and Danube basin.
  • Contribute to the review of governance sections of GWOPA's new website.
  • Assist in the preparation of draft concept papers, background documents, position papers; support to guidance material on establishment of WOP national platforms.
  • Assisting in the development of project concept notes/project briefs and project documents for resource mobilization.
  • Data management and analysis; especially management of membership database and support to membership campaign.
  • Conduct research on pertinent topics related to water and sanitation (especially mapping of national utilities associations in Asia and Africa)
  • Assist with communication and information management.
  • Assist with the management of websites and drafting of newsletters.
  • Assist in the preparation, implementation and followup of events and workshops.
  • Undertake other assignments as required for the development and implementation of the work programme of GWOPA.

Education
a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent).
c. Have graduated with Bachelor's degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent.


Have demonstrated a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
