Dematic is looking to hire an Indirect Site Buyer to support all indirect spending and costs of materials and services within designated sites and categories.

The Indirect Site Buyer will be responsible for responding to all requests from our sites across the DACH region and will work to develop localised strategies for key local categories and sub-categories assigned to them.

Within this role, you will be working closely with the EMEA Category and Procurement business to fully support the needs of the UK organisation and help develop standardized processes for the future.


For this position, we are seeking an experienced buyer with experience in similar sectors (manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, or engineering) who can work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and drive cost savings throughout the business.

The position will be based from our central offices in Heusenstamm and offers flexible hybrid working.

Tasks and Qualifications:


Key Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for assigned Indirect Procurement spend and its corresponding supplier base for our locations in the DACH region.
  • Preparation and execution of RFP 's / RFQ's, review of submitted quotations, establish price comparison sheets, present sourcing recommendations, conclude contracts and place purchase orders accordingly.
  • Define and implement local category / subcategory strategy for your assigned locations and align with EMEA Category Procurement team as well as internal stakeholders. Review supplier base, define robust preferred supplier base, reduce number of suppliers and bundle business accordingly.
  • Follow overall Indirect Procurement Saving and Cost Avoidance targets, benchmark responsible spend frequently, identify potentials, lead supplier negotiations and implement potentials accordingly.
  • Reporting of cost saving potentials and achievements as well as cost avoidance by using the established Procurement templates and tools.
  • Analyze Purchasing data, ensure data transparency and high data quality in all KION Purchasing used systems (e.g. SAP)
  • Follow KION Group Procedures, work and cooperate closely with EMEA Category Buyers as well as internal stakeholders and ensure compliance across all Purchasing activities.
  • Expand and foster collaboration in the UK with other KION Group companies.
  • Improve and implement standardization for assigned sites (standard documents, common services & goods) and ensure always close alignment with Category Procurement EMEA.
  • Contract Management, ensure transparency of all contracts, reviewing terms and validities frequently.
  • Continuous Improvement of available Procedures and Systems in respect of Indirect Purchasing.

Qualifications & Experience:


  • Degree in business administration or any Procurement related discipline.
  • Experience in working in crossfunctional teams and in an international environment.
  • Has been part and has conducted negotiation projects (experienced with negotiations and contract management of international and local suppliers), where cost savings have been achieved and where strong purchasing skills (ability to analyze complex data and develop strategies) have been demonstrated.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, presentation skills, well organized and knowing how to set priorities.
  • Demonstrates high personal motivation and ability to develop practical or innovative alternative approaches to meet objectives.
  • High analytical skills and willing to achieve results in a team environment.
  • Selfmotivated, independent, focused on results, enthusiastic, committed, team player and must be a good listener and observer
  • Fluent in English (German is a plus)
