Are you interested in the role of nature in making cities not just sustainable and healthy, but also equitable? We're looking for a motivated student assistant to join us for at least 6 hours/week, supporting the practice-based research project JUSTNature, with a focus on just implementation of Low carbon | High air quality nature-based solutions in seven cities. Our team at the Chair for Strategic Landscape Planning and Management is steering qualitative research on co-governance: analysing the existing institutions, policies, politics and actors that govern green space planning and management in seven cities, and seeking to identify entry points to enable more effective and socially-just processes and outcomes.

The role is varied and tasks include:

  • Support interviews and/or surveys with local stakeholders (e.g. transcribing, translating, survey design, data analysis).
  • Support German language workshops with local stakeholders in the City of Munich (e.g. logistics, moderation of table discussions, and/or documentation).
  • Ad hoc research into and analysis of case studies.
  • Design communication materials to convey research findings to a wider public (e.g. flyers, fact sheets, slide presentations).

Profile:


  • Background in landscape or urban planning, geography, environmental management, sociology or a related field.
  • Ability to work to deadlines under supervision in a collaborative team environment.
  • Takes care to complete work to a high standard, with attention to detail.
  • Willing and able to take responsibility for own tasks.
  • Excellent written and spoken German and English skills.
  • Will be enrolled as a student for at least 6 months from 1 September 2023, ideally longer. We're interested in a longerterm collaboration with the right person
  • Desirable: Graphic design skills (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Canva, Affinity).
