Your duties include

  • Representation of the Storytelling, Dramaturgy, and Directing area of expertise in teaching and applied research in our media faculty, primarily, but not exclusively in the Film specialization of our Multimedia and Communication degree program.
  • Teaching the basics for the conception of fictional and nonfictional moving image narratives for beginners and advanced qualifications for advanced students
  • Story development, script and editing supervision for student moving image projects.
  • Practiceoriented teaching in German and English as well as in digital formats (elearning, blended learning)
  • Contentrelated and strategic further development of the areas of expertise with a particular focus on digitalization
  • Highquality supervision of practical projects, Bachelor's and Master's theses as well as doctorates
  • Proactive assumption of research and development activities
  • Commitment to establishing new and maintaining existing international partnerships
  • Active and interdisciplinary participation in the academic selfadministration of the university
  • Research and development activities
  • Proactive acquisition of thirdparty funding through research and transfer activities
  • Highquality supervision of practical assignments, Bachelor's and Master's theses as well as doctorates
  • Involvement in setting up new international partnerships and maintaining existing ones
  • Active and interdisciplinary involvement in administering academic affairs
You offer

  • A university degree in directing is preferred (German "Diplom" degree or combination of Bachelor & Master)
  • Aboveaverage professional qualifications and several years of experience as a filmmaker, director, screenwriter or producer in the field of cinema/TV feature films, documentaries, series, advertising, or corporate video
  • Excellent knowledge of conception, story development and screenwriting
  • Extensive experience in the field of directing actors
  • Experience in new media productions, as well as new platforms and formats is desirable
  • Networks in the film and TV industry; contacts to editorial offices, funding institutions and film production companies
  • Very good command of English as well as the ability and willingness to teach courses in English
  • German language skills and willingness to teach in German
  • Enthusiasm for passing on your practical experience in teaching and applied research. Enjoyment of communicating and working creatively with prospective media professionals
  • Organizational skills
  • Motivation and the ability to work in a team to help shape our faculty together
