Your Role:


We are looking for results-oriented Senior Data Scientists who are ready to take on some of the most impactful problems of global trade.

At Forto, the data science team works on machine learning models for the most important processes and parts of Forto's transport management platform.

The work consists of owning machine learning use cases as part of a product team; starting from identifying opportunities, to developing and prototyping a solution, all the way to deploying, maintaining, and improving a production-ready solution.

We use a variety of technologies and tools including Python, SQL, Looker, Airflow, Docker, Argo, CircleCI, and a variety of GCP services to get the job done, and constantly look for ways to improve how our data scientists work.

You Will:


  • Identify opportunities for machine learning solutions to create financial impact, partnering with business/tech managers.
  • Build stateoftheart machine learning models that will have an impact on financial growth and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and logistics managers to translate analytical insights into decisions and actions.
  • Deep dive into the current industry and business practices of global trade, supply chain, and freight forwarding to identify opportunities for improving Forto products and services with datadriven solutions.
  • Communicate results in a clear businessfocused narrative and act on product decisions.
  • Develop analytical frameworks to monitor business and product performance

What you bring:


  • An advanced degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Economics, Computer Science, or a similar domain
  • Relevant industry experience in data science, product analytics, or related quantitative role
  • Working experience in an analytical role involving data extraction, analysis, statistical modeling, and communication
  • Handson experience with productionlevel data science projects — from prototyping to deploying and maintaining and improving productionready solutions
  • Proficiency and experience in writing structured and efficient queries on large data sets with data querying languages.
  • Experience in programming, especially with data science and visualization libraries in Python or R
  • Working knowledge of ETL, automation scripts, data pipelines, and visualization tools
  • Experience in data collection and feature extraction on tabular and timebased data
  • Experience in data science concepts such as dimension reduction, classification, regression, feature extraction, feature hashing and bias/variance tradeoffs
  • Experience in forecasting and optimisation projects is a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as ability to collaborate with crossfunctional partners
  • Experience in automation workflow tools such as Matillion and Argo is a plus
