Job description:


In fall 2023, GIZ will launch the global "CATAL1.5°T Initiative" (pronounced "Catalyst") to encourage seed investments in promising early-stage climate ventures and to promote regional climate tech innovation networks from the Global South.

The initiative is funded by the international Green Climate Fund (GCF) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) for an initial period of six years.


Your tasks:


  • Develop, implement, and continuously advance a comprehensive impact measurement and monitoring framework for the CATALI.5°T Initiative's activities, in close collaboration with the regional CATALI.5°T Initiative teams composed of GIZ staff and implementation partners
  • Use advanced tools and technologies to measure and monitor the effects of supported ventures, founders, startup incubators & accelerators, and venture capital; This includes tracking avoided or reduced greenhouse gas emissions from climate products or services, the amount of venture capital leveraged, job creation, gender and social inclusion, and other impacts
  • Analyze and evaluate collected data and provide semiannual impact reports on the CATA-LI.5°T Initiative programmes for GCF, BMZ and other relevant internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain close relationships with external implementation partners to ensure accurate and timely data collection
  • Contribute to the development of impactfocused communication materials, including presentations, reports, case studies, social media posts etc. and present the CATALI.5°T Initiative to external stakeholders
  • Contribute to the overall strategic direction of the CATALI.5°T Initiative

Your profile:


  • Master's degree in economics or social sciences with coursework in statistics
  • Many years of experience in impact measurement, monitoring and reporting (IMMR), including several years in an organization outside international development, preferably in the field of climate change or sustainable development
  • Excellent knowledge of impact investing
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills, with provable experience in IMMR, data collection and analysis
  • Excellent writing skills, with provable experience in impact reporting to donors or investors
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Business fluency in English (C2), advanced language skills German, Spanish or French are an asset.

Notes:

This job is suited to a full or a part-time position.

The willingness for frequent business trips is required.
