Trading & Supply Products (TSP) is at the heart of Shell's Downstream business.
TSP has the primary responsibility of managing and optimizing the physical supply chain as well as creating value though proprietary trading.
Our goal is to create value for the Shell bottom line, by maximizing the overall value potential across different lines of business and portfolios by delivering the right product to the right place on time at the maximum margin potential.
The DACH Supply team drives the maximization of end to end value for Downstream by steering volumes from various sources (Manufacturing, Exchanges, Spot market) to the channels (Mobility, Commercial Fuels, Exchanges, Spot market) and locations where they will generate most value.
This environment is highly operational and dynamic, requiring excellent stakeholder management and analytical skills as well as deep understanding of market dynamics and economic impact of a decision.
As the
Price Risk Optimiser, you manage the exposure and price risk of our extensive German inland business (1500kt/mth) spanning across 3 classes of business and 4 marketing channels.
What's the role?
Responsibilities
- Responsible for price risk management of our German portfolio by using a variety of different (IT)tools and trading software like FED/DEX, Spotfire, PowerBI, Apollo, Alteryx (together with the other Price Risk Optimizer
- Drive improvement and exposure management integration opportunities with the commodity trading desks
- Lockin value of exposure related commercial opportunities in the German market together with the commodity Trading desks: Contango storage deals, Strategic stock obligations, contract optimization
- Backup for Austria and Switzerland exposure management
- Deal creation in exposure management system (FED/DEX) for selected channels
- Understanding of 'life of a deal' across the T&S IT landscape
- Focal point for exposure management in optimization team (book setup, training requirements)
- Drive the German change agent network for exposure management topics (across Hamburg and Rotterdam office locations)
- Train the change agent network and relevant stakeholders on exposure management
- Drive progress on accurate daily P&L reporting from the German books
- Work with Finance and Risk to improve and clarify exposure and P&L topics
- Coach and guide the data development team (1 analyst supporting German book)
Special Challenges
- Work towards integration with the commodity Trading desks and successful exposure aggregation across the Supply and Trading books (project Orion)
- Manage a wide range of stakeholders across different locations without direct managerial authority
- Understanding of optionality in the E2E value chain and how they can be influenced to maximize value
- Change management; best practice sharing and continuous improvement and increasing efficiency in what the European Supply Chain Optimization team does
- Be highly resilient and stress resistant when dealing with unforeseen situations and under time pressure
What we need from you
- Ability to prioritise and troubleshoot, highly flexible
- Has finance or supply chain background
- Price risk knowledge
- Thrive in an operational environment, resilience to deal with continuous changes and challenges
- Strong analytical skills, able to interpret (incomplete) data/information quickly and translate into actionable business decisions
- Proven results delivery capability
- Strong decisionmaking and problemsolving ability to develop alternative options, solutions and ways of working continuously
- Strong stakeholder management and engagement skills at the interfaces with Trading, Commercial Fuels, Mobility and Manufacturing
- Fluent in English
