Your Tasks:

Build prototypes of machine learning use cases or support the advancement of existing ones using the full range of models: classical models (like regressions) or more modern ones (LLMs)
Decide on right approach / algorithms in accordance with business needs (e.g., regarding the complexity and responsiveness of the model)
Act as a central thought partner (M/F/d) to collaborate with our tech colleagues building the foundation, e.g., our GenAI platform
Serve as a thought partner (M/F/d) with data owners (central or in the business functions / country entities) to improve the overall availability, searchability, and quality of data used in the various data product
Collaborate with external partners on GenAI use cases ranging from established players like Google and OpenAI to startups forming in this space

Your Profile:

University degree in mathematics, physics, statistics, engineering, econometrics or similar qualification
Experience in analytical programming languages (R or Python (preferred)) and common ML packages and frameworks
Experience in basic software engineering skills (musthave: git, optional: basic knowledge of hyperscalers, CI/CD)
Advanced theoretical and practical (understanding) knowledge of LLMs and how to use them beyond simple prompting is a great plus
Commercial understanding is a plus as well as good understanding of a customerperspective in retail
Interpersonal communication, especially to less technical audience
Ownership mentality for own work, including presenting it to senior business stakeholders
Business fluent in Englisch, German is a plus

The products you work on can be internal (e.g., predictive models to optimize our supply chain or LLM-based document retrieval) or customer facing (e.g., our personalization engine or a virtual sales assistant chat bot).
