For the Institute of of the Hamburg University of Technology for the earliest possible date, we are looking for three (3):
RESEARCH ASSOCIATES (M/F/d) / WISSENSCHAFTLICHE MITARBEITER (m/w/d)

full time and for a maximum of 36 months.

YOUR TASKS

The three positions are part of the MARIE SKŁODOWSKA-CURIE Doctoral Network "Multiphase Flow Optimization strategies" (MFLOP) with 16 partners from 8 countries.

All research positions aim at simulation-based optimization of industrial multiphase flows using the adjoint method

  • Position 3 (PhD from TUHH): To develop a strategy for an efficient reduction of transient SPHresults used by an adjointbased optimization framework and to formulate an adjoint SPH optimization framework dedicated to optimizing the efficiency for Pelton turbine freesurface flows. To implement the adjoint approach into an inhouse SPHflow solver and to validate the method for Peltonturbine geometries and involves strong collaborations with TUHH. The position is assigned to the beneficiary Andritz Hydro AG in Switzerland. The duty location is Vevey (Switzerland). The PhD will be enrolled at TUHH.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Excellent Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering, preferably Theoretical Mechanical Engineering, Industrial/Applied Mathematics or Scientific Computing
  • Clear focus on computational fluid dynamics using finitevolume or SPH methods and fluid dynamic optimization approaches. Experience in industrial CFD is an asset.
  • Background and knowledge of High-Performance Computing methods in CSE; sound background in physics of fluids; proven background in different programming paradigms.
  • Excellent communication as well as proven language capabilities and team working skills. Applicants must be able to communicate fluently in English, in oral and written form.
  • Experience in the use of HPCsystems, coding competencies in FORTRAN, PYTHON, C++
