Duties:


  • Responsible for establishing policies and processes for data center modernization and standardization projects.
  • Document standard data elements for inclusion in all planning factors and decision matrix, to include identification of common level of service planning.
  • Plan, develop, and conduct analysis of current and future resource factors (human, physical, financial, or information) to determine actual or projected effectiveness in achieving planned goals and objectives.
  • Determine the physical storage requirements based on published government standards and consideration for the volume of data, data relationships, location of data storage and COOP, anticipated growth, access methods, and data compression techniques.
  • Present, justify, negotiate and defend projects and/or program segments as required.
  • Write technical reports, publications and correspondence as tasked by supervisor.

Qualifications:


  • Must meet training and certification requirements as a member of the IA Workforce at IAT level III, in accordance with DoD M within six months of appointment. The incumbent performs under the direct supervision of an appropriatelycertified individual until qualifications are obtained unless certification qualification requirements have been waived due to severe operational or personnel constraints. Incumbents not meeting training and certification IA DoD M may be reassigned to other duties or released, consistent with applicable law.
As such, the incumbent has the following position requirement:
"Applies knowledge of IA policy, procedures, and workforce structure to design, develop, and implement a secure network Environment (NE)."

  • Due to COVID19, the agency is currently in an expanded telework posture. If selected, you may be expected to temporarily telework, even if your home is located outside the local commuting area. Once employees are permitted to return to the office, you will be expected to report to the duty station listed on this announcement within a designated time frame identified by the organization. At that time, you may be eligible to request to continue to telework one or more days a pay period depending upon the terms of the agency's telework policy.

Basic Requirement for Information Technology Specialist (Policy and Planning / Enterprise Architecture):


Specialized and Other Experience:

One year of specialized experience which includes: providing technical planning, analyzing and/or expertise for a wide range of IT operating systems; coordinating or advising on the design, installation and implementation of complex IT systems; ensuring IT systems and structures are in compliance with policies and guidelines; and monitoring data center capacity and performance management.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).


  • The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined:
