_ (LNMO) cathode active materials and the elucidation of the LNMO gassing and degradation mechanisms_*:

It is the overall goal of this project to improve and optimize the long-term cycling stability of state-of-the-art LMNO cathodes and corresponding electrolyte systems.

This is achieved through thorough advanced chemical, physical and electrochemical diagnostics and benchmarking of post treated CAMs, together with the evaluation of suitable electrolyte systems for these materials, in collaboration with PowerCo SE.

Your tasks

  • Benchmarking and characterization of ageing mechanisms of LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4 (LNMO) CAMs of industrial standard through chemical, physical and electrochemical methods (Impedance analysis, online electrochemical mass spectroscopy, NMR, electrochemical cycling tests, Kr-BET, SEM, etc.)
  • Evaluation of the effect of CAM treatment (coating, overlithiation) and electrolyte system on the gassing and ageing behaviour
  • Implementation of a diagnostic procedure for a standardised benchmarking of the investigated cell chemistries

Qualifications
-
Education: above average masters's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, physics, or related areas.
-
Experience and knowledge: experience in the field of electrochemistry (especially Li-ion battery related) is advantageous.
-
Personality and working practice: scientific rigor, curiosity, and passion to solve scientific challenges, ability to work in an international team, and self-motivated.
-
Languages: fluent in English (written and spoken).
