The Hertie School in Berlin prepares exceptional students for leadership positions in government, business, and civil society.

The school offers master's programmes, executive education and doctoral programmes, distinguished by interdisciplinary and practice-oriented teaching, as well as outstanding research.

Its extensive international network positions it as an ambassador of good governance, characterised by public debate and engagement. The school was founded in 2003 by the Hertie Foundation, which remains its major funder. The Hertie School is accredited by the state and the German Science Council.

To support our university in the further development and administration of funding programme portfolios, we seek to fill the following position as soon as possible:

Associate Third Party Funding (gn)
part-time (30 hours/week) or full-time (40 hours/week).

The position requires knowledge and experience in the areas of research funding and third-party funding administration.


Your tasks:

  • Search for suitable funding programs, development and implementation of internal training courses for the faculty
  • Supporting the legal department and HR department in the preparation of contracts and the finance department in commercial issues and the preliminary tax classification of funding projects
  • Supporting the project managers in drawing up and managing the budget within the framework of the applicable funding guidelines
  • Budget monitoring and auditing
  • Preparation of proof of use of funds and calloffs
  • Preparation of documents for external reviews and audits

Your profile:

  • University degree with Master's degree or comparable
  • Experience in science management
  • Specialist knowledge of national and international funding programs
  • Very good knowledge of Excel and basic business skills
  • Ability to work with international and interdisciplinary teams
  • Structured and independent way of working
  • Good communication skills and a confident manner
  • Business fluent in written and spoken English and German, with at least one of the two languages at native speaker level
