Support of a research project from a technical side. The tasks cover the entire range of activities of a biochemistry laboratory, as well as other research activities. The assistant would especially support the activities associated to a DFG project.
- purchasing (e.g. SAP-RM)
- independently carry out and record the creation of buffers, cultivation of cells, purification of proteins and crystallization experiments
- independent work in the areas of laboratory maintenance, occupational safety and other technical tasks
- independent work on preparation and measurement times at the synchrotron in the area of time-resolved X-ray crystallography


Requirements:

- completed technical assistant training in a state-accredited course

or
- laboratory assistant training with a final examination requiring equivalent skills and experience

or
- equivalent skills, experience, and qualifications

Verification of equivalent skills, experience, and qualifications for the last prerequisites will be conducted on hiring.

Required skills and personal qualities
- experience with molecular biology, biochemistry, protein chemistry
- basics of biology and biotechnology, knowledge and experience in working in the S1 laboratory and chemistry laboratory
- experience in structural biology is highly desirable
- ability to independently work on scientific questions, e.g. optimization of crystallization experiments and protein purification protocols
- good communication skills in German and English
