Munich Re's Natural Resources Facultative team continues to strengthen its footprint in the worldwide energy industry by allowing and partnering with our clients to implement the energy transition to meet the latest targets, an opportunity has emerged for an underwriter in our Munich office.
With a responsibility for worldwide clients active in the onshore downstream energy oil & gas, petrochemical, chemical and biochemical business, you will emphasize selective underwriting of existing business and risk assessment of developing technologies such as hydrogen production or other clean tech solutions.
Be part of the successful collaboration between our offices in the international organisation and the head office in Munich, driving the professional underwriting of facultative reinsurance business.
Your job
- Underwrite global facultative onshore Energy business following our strategy (including ESG aspects) and within designated underwriting authority:
- Analyse risk inspections and underwriting reviews
- Pricing and acceptance of large and complex energy risks
- Control accumulation risks including natural hazards
- Assure compliance with groupwide guidelines
- Conduct negotiations with cedents and reinsurance brokers
- Managing, and expanding client and broker relationships
- Assist the implementation of portfolio analysis and compiling statistics and reports
- Contribute to an inspiring team environment
Your profile
- University degree, preferably in engineering or applied sciencerelated discipline, or a recognised professional qualification in insurance
- Practical experience as an engineer and/or experience as an underwriter in direct and/or facultative insurance
- Basic knowledge of risk assessment and pricing methods and competencies in the analysis of wordings/contracts
- Competencies to quickly learn other classes of business or developing technologies
- Strong negotiation skills and experience negotiating terms and conditions with clients and brokers
- Strongly pronounced sales orientation with the ability to build sustainable relationships with clients and brokers
- High degree of responsibility, motivation, decisiveness and selfemployment
- Excellent social skills, ability to coordinate and work with an international team
- Analytical skills, capability to be innovative and creative
- Solutionoriented with a focused, proactive, and efficient work style
- Fluent business English is essential and basic German beneficial
- Willingness to travel
