Working at the Charité


We offer 2 PhD positions within the Neuroblastoma Evolution Integrated Research Training Group, which is embedded in the Collaborative Research Center CRC1588 with a focus on "Decoding and Targeting Mechanisms of Neuroblastoma Evolution".

CRC1588 is a multidisciplinary research consortium with partners in Berlin (Charité, Berlin Institute of Health, BIH, and Max Delbrück Center), University and University Hospital Cologne, University of Würzburg, University Hospital Tübingen and the German Cancer Research Institute (DKFZ).

The main research focus within CRC1588 lies on neuroblastoma, a devastating childhood cancer, which still represents a great challenge for the pediatric oncologist.

An excellent mentoring environment to support dissertation, research and training of junior researchers is a central part of CRC1588.


Job Overview

Responsibilities:


  • Project A04 (Eggert/Rajewsky): Spatial organization and function of RNA in primary neuroblastomas and their TME
  • Mapping the cellular and melucular composition of primary neuroblastoma by using spatially resolved single cell transcriptomics
  • Assessing the impact of cellular organization on treatment resistance and metastasis
Project B06 (Versteeg/Künkele-Langer): Preventing neuroblastoma relapses by molecular characterization and targeted elimination of mínimal residual disease cells

  • Identify mínimal residual disease (MRD) cells in neuroblastoma mouse models
  • Use molecular definition of MRDs to target drugs that prevent relapse
Academic staff members are given sufficient time for their academic work in accordance with their employment contract (-110 BerlHG).
