The incumbent may be required to travel approximately 3-5 times per year for a total of 30 days. Travels will be within Germany and internationally to support with meetings, trainings, site visits or similar.


Duties:


The Travel Supervisor is responsible for the activities of the Travel and Visitors Unit (TVU) which provides Mission-wide guidance on all travel-related issues and administrative support to all official visitors to the U.S.

Embassy Berlin, overnight stays and foreign visa requests. The Unit also manages a Visitor Management Database that collects and retains information on all visitors to the U.S. Mission to Germany.

Depending on the nature of the visit, visitor support duties include hotel arrangements, transportation, accommodation exchange, airport and baggage support, as well as hospitality rooms and offices for senior United States Government (USG) officials and Very Important Person (VIP) delegations.


The incumbent is responsible for a variety of hotel-related matters such as serving as point of contact (POC) for local hotels offering government rates, negotiating Germany-wide government rates with major hotel chains, coordinating hotel matters with constituent posts, and producing reports and statistics.

This position supervises one Travel Assistant, one Travel Clerk (Foreign Visa), two part-time Visa Couriers, and reports directly to the General Services Officer (GSO).


Qualifications and Evaluations:


  • Requirements:


A minimum of three (3) years of prior work experience in the travel field or closely related service-oriented field are required.

A minimum of one (1) year of prior supervisory experience is required.

  • Education Requirements:


Two years (or completion of other equivalent post-secondary educational program or degree) of post-secondary education (vocational education, associate degree or college/university studies) in tourism, hotel management, hospitality, or business administration are required.


  • Evaluations:
Position requires fluent language skills in English (reading/writing/speaking).
Position requires fluent language skills in German (reading/writing/speaking).

  • Ability to draft in a clear, concise and grammatically correct manner.

This may be tested.
