In order to support Human Factors Engineering, Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a


Intern within Human Factors Engineering - Ergonomic Design of Input Devices (d/f/m):


Description:


The team Human Factors Engineering and Flight Deck (GE) is responsible for the development of Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) for different platforms such as fighter aircraft, transport aircraft, or ground control stations.

The associated process covers requirements engineering, HMI design, specification, and assessments for validation and verification. These evaluations require a wide range of tools and methods for representative results.

The complexity of e.g.

current/future consoles in a Ground Control Station (GCS) requires an interaction device, which offers the possibility to command multiple functions.

The main objective of this internship is to gain detailed information in the field of designing such an input device for a large anthropometric range.

By means of a commercially available keypad, ideal location for buttons should be identified and derived for future design.

Your tasks and responsibilities:


  • Analyze current state of the art with respect to ergonomic design of input devices.
  • Conduct an assessment with participants to adjust a commercially available input device to a variety of hand anthropometries.
  • Analyze, and interpret gathered data.
  • Derive optimal positions of buttons for the design of input devices.
  • Document and discuss research topics.

Desired skills and qualifications:


  • Be an enrolled student (M/F/d) within Aerospace Engineering, Human Factors Engineering or a similar field of study.
  • Be fluent in English.
  • Be a good team player, have excellent communication skills and be able to work autonomously.
