Beschreibung

The Head of Medical Innovation & Digital Strategy is responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing European and local Medical & Digital strategies for the indication areas within the DS Specialty Business Division.

She/he will work closely with the other SBD Medical Affairs as well as cross-functional roles (especially with the Digital Excellence Team) to ensure alignment with over-arching therapeutic area brand strategies as well as new digital innovation concepts leveraged by the digital innovation hub.


Key responsibilities:

Develop and implement DSE Medical Affairs Digital and Innovation Vision, Strategy and Roadmap

  • Lead the development of a digital framework and operating model for DSE MA
  • Develop and implement the Medical Affairs digital roadmap
  • Build processes to support the development of digital capabilities for engagement with external stakeholders within MA and accross affiliates
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities for digital transformation across DSE MA affiliate teams and as a member of the digital innovation board

Lead DSE MA Digital initiatives in collaboration with other relevant functions

  • Build Digital Infrastructure and capabilities
  • Omnichannel engagement and data dissemination: Strategy, process, and implementation to convert scientific materials to digital (e.g. podcasts, videos, portals, chatbots)
  • Digital KEE engagement strategies and capabilities
  • Efforts to enable selfservice
  • Partner with Medical Excellence and lead efforts to advance digital capabilities for

Field Medical:
Enhanced profiling and targeting, Implementation of CX Evolution Strategy by content personalization

  • Drive digital health solutions and realworld evidence generation supported by disruptive innovation and trends

Oversee maintenance and advancement of MA Tools and Technology

Ensure alignment of technology and systems supports the digital roadmap

Vendor management and budget responsibility for DSE MA technology and tools

Coordinate with other internal digital functions (Digital Excellence, Commercial) across DS

  • Function as a strategic thought partner on matters of importance to Medical Affairs digital efforts
  • Partner with internal stakeholders (e.g. ClinOps, Commercial Operations and Customer Experience Strategy Team) to identify and collaborate on digital projects of mutual interest
  • Represent DSE MA on internal digital governance committees such as the Digital Innovation Board
  • Continuously monitor the external landscape to identify innovations and digital tools
  • Track medical affairs industry best practices in process, tools, and technology, and incorporate into digital strategy as appropriate
  • Lead efforts to enhance digital literacy and create a digital mindset for DS MA employees
  • Act as a champion and change agent in leading organizational changes required to create and sustain digital capabilities, including medical analytics and intelligence
  • Identify and address implementation barriers to new digital tools and processes
  • Work within existing Company policies and SOPs to manage risk and develop mitigation approaches
  • Lead and/or contribute to the development of policies and SOPs governing Digital

Medical Analytics and Intelligence

  • Strengthen capabilities in medical analytics and intelligence, supervision of medical competitive intelligence role
  • Develop and monitor KPIs to assess the effectiveness of medical strategies and innovation, in strong collaboration with Performance & Business Intelligence Team
  • Utilize metrics to drive continuous improvement of processes and tools, and to determine appropriate resource needs, including budget, tools and personnel

Personal skills and professional experience:


  • 10+ years of experience in pharma/biopharma required
  • 7+ years of Medical Affairs experiences required
  • Experience in Medical Affairs technology (e.g. CRM, Insights tools) required
  • Field Medical experience preferred
  • Team/line management preferred
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders in a matrix organization
  • Experience in leading complex projects & solving potential issues
  • Show creativity and an openminded approach
  • Be results oriented
  • Flexible to changing priorities in a fastmoving environment with no/little structure
  • Handson mentality
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages are an advantage
