Jenny Sakura Massow

I am a passionate individual on a mission to embrace cultural exchange and share my knowledge with the world. Born to a Japanese mother from Sapporo and a German father from Cottbus, my upbringing instilled in me a deep appreciation for diverse cultures. Frequent visits to Japan allowed me to connect with my Japanese heritage, leading to fall in love with the rich traditions and customs of the country.

To further explore the world and expand my horizons, I embarked on an AFS student exchange to the United States in 2015-2016, immersing in the American way of life and becoming fluent in English. Upon returning to Germany, I completed my education, including an apprentice as an e-commerce clerk and pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in marketing & digital media.

Throughout my journey, I actively engaged in volunteer work with the AFS exchange program, caring for students from different parts of the globe during camps and study trips. My experiences reinforced my belief in the power of cultural exchange and language as tools to foster understanding and connections between people.

As an ambitious and high-energy individual, I aspires to utilize my multicultural background and knowledge to contribute to intercultural exchange and teaching children. My recent travels across the US and introspective moments crystallized my desire to live and work in Japan, to explore my roots, and develop a deeper understanding of my Japanese identity.

With a natural inclination for helping others and a love for teaching, I am excited about the prospect of educating children in Japan.  I would love to join you as my potential new employer, work alongside the children, and become a valuable member of the community. 

Upon my return to Germany, I completed my ‚Abitur‘ in a Gymnasium (German High School). I have volunteered for the AFS exchange program in Germany for students from all over the world. During camps, as well as during study trips, I took care of up to 20 children (14-18 years) with another volunteer. This year I started tutoring a 10 year old girl in German and English. 

During these years and experiences I learned how important cultural exchange is to me and how language works as one of the best tools. 

I successfully completed my training as an e-commerce clerk in 2022 and am currently waiting for my official papers of my Bachelor of Arts degree in the field of marketing & digital media. Now I am ready to see the world again.
