Responsibilities:


  • As Junior Scientist (f/m/d) at Freudenberg Technology Innovation (FTI) in Weinheim, Germany:
  • Product-related basic research on tribology, deformation and extrusion, thermoplastics and elastomers for secondary sealing elements in mechanical seals
  • Liaising between Freudenberg Technology Innovation and Research & Development at EagleBurgmann Germany
  • Providing methodical support for product development at EagleBurgmann Germany
  • Following the threeyear program in Weinheim, you will move into the role of Simulation Engineer at the Wolfratshausen site, where you will be responsible for the following tasks:
  • Incorporating the expertise gathered and the results achieved from basic research into product development at EagleBurgmann Germany
  • Design and simulation of mechanical seals for liquids and gases, including secondary sealing elements
  • Conducting structural, thermal and tribological modelling and simulations using FEM (including elastomers, thermoplastics)
  • Development and deployment of computational tools
  • Project management and support

Qualifications:


  • Completed studies incl. doctorate/PhD in mechanical engineering/chemical engineering/technical physics/technical mathematics or similar
  • Sound basic knowledge of structural mechanics, mechanics of materials, tribology, thermodynamics, fundamental chemistry, machine elements and materials science, fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer
  • In addition, indepth knowledge in the following areas would be an advantage: polymer material modelling, polymer chemistry, knowledge of EHL and contact mechanics simulation, finite element analysis (ANSYS Workbench or Abaqus), programming with Matlab, Python and.
NET, surface technology

  • Excellent written and spoken German and English
  • Openness to interdisciplinary work and good teamwork skills
  • You are creative and enjoy development work and solving physical problems
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills and a confident manner
