In the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering Sciences at TU Darmstadt, Remote Sensing and Image Analysis Lab the following position asResearch Assistant (all genders) - Remote Sensing, Image Analysis, Processing of 3D Point Clouds:
is to be filled in a full-time employment contract initially limited to 3 years. An extension is being sought.
Your profile:
- Completed diploma or master's degree, ideally in geodesy and goinformation or in computer science, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, civil engineering, physics, or comparable studies
- Ability to solve complex problems, analytical thinking skills
- Good programming skills (e.g. Python, C++)
- Good knowledge in photogrammetry and remote sensing
- At least basic knowledge in Machine Learning and/or Computer Vision, practical experience is an advantage
- Ideally experience in QGIS
- Ideally experience in processing point clouds
- Knowledge in radar remote sensing is an advantage
- Very good written and spoken German and English language skills are required.
Your tasks:
- Independent processing of research projects in the field of remote sensing, image analysis and photogrammetry
- Support of the field in research as well as German
- Collaboration on current projects in the field
- Development of methods for processing and automated interpretation of remote sensing data.
- Implementation of software for data processing for scientific purposes
- Writing scientific articles and presenting the results at professional conferences
The technical focus, depending on personal inclination, can be set on processing of 3D point clouds, mobile mapping, object detection and tracking in image sequences, semantic segmentation of remote sensing data, machine learning / deep learning, fusion of heterogeneous sensor data, or radar remote sensing.
