Duties:


  • Work primarily involves activities related to network architecture, hardware and software to include routers, switches, servers, network/power cabling, network protocols, design documentation/diagrams, etc.
  • Researches and advises leadership on implementation of emerging technologies and strategies.
  • Serves as a technical authority and network engineering expert in the design, implementation, operationl maintenance, and high level troubleshooting of network architecture.
  • Plans, engineers and coordinates the implementation of data center modernization and standardization initiatives with consideration of all applicable laws, regulations and policies.
  • Responsible for assuring that reliability, maintainability, human factors, safety and configuration management criteria are fulfilled as related to design, development, testing and integration of computer and/or communication systems/subsystems.

  • Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (SCI/SSBI) security clearance.
  • Duties of this position may require travel/TDY 25% of the time.
  • Required to meet training and certification requirements as a member of the Cyberspace Workforce Qualification and Management Program at the minimum Basic level, in accordance with DoD Manual , within six months of appointment.
  • Required to meet training and certification at the Intermediate level within 24 months of appointment and at the Advanced level within 36 months of appointment.
  • The incumbent performs under the direct supervision of an appropriately certified individual until qualification are obtained unless certification qualification requirements have been waived due to severe operational or personnel constraints.
  • Incumbents not meeting training and certification IAW DoD may be reassigned to other duties or released, consistent with applicable law.
  • A
s such, the incumbent has the following position requirement: "Applies knowledge of Cyberspace / Information Assurance policy, procedures and workforce structure to design, develop and implement a secure network environment.

  • The incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019R and must pass urinalysis testing, as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.

This position is in the Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe one year of specialized experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled.

Specialized experience would be demonstrated by:
(1)

Performing network administration and engineering functions; (2) Directing project leadership and oversite of network implementation, data center implementations or software development projects at or above two-million-dollar value; (3) Creating network and data center architecture designs; and (4) Briefing senior leadership regarding project status and function.

Basic Requirement for Computer Engineer/Electronics Engineer:

Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in engineering.

To be acceptable, the program must:
(1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); OR (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

  • Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Absent other means of qualifying under this standard, those applicants who achieved such registration by means other than written test (e.g., State grandfather or eminence provisions) are eligible only for positions that are within or closely related to the specialty field of their registration.
