The Role
Due to continued growth within the Mars Science and Diagnostic division, we are looking for a Director of Transportation to join our European team.
This will span across inbound, outbound and intercompany transfers, with a huge focus on customer experience, cost effectiveness and overall success with meeting company goals and requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage transportation and logistics performance, service delivery timing and budget.
- Provide technical support for logistics, especially on matters related to acquisitions, expansions and startups.
- Design and implement process improvements throughout the network including couriers, with a focus on improving service, footprint and profitability.
- Using a drive for results to support transportation and logistics excellence and innovation programs.
- Work collaboratively when communicating between operations, suppliers, customer service and sales teams.
- Leadership and participation in crossfunctional, process improvement activities.
- Overall responsibility for auditing and coding of transportation related invoices.
- Reporting to cover performance and successes.
- Develop and implement applicable SOP's and policies.
- Establish forums to ensure continuous business review to ensure optimisation with internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide input for manuals to capture relevant compliance for customs across the EU and North America.
- Travel to other sites across Europe when required.
Experience and skill set required:
- C1 or business level English and German.
- Proven experience within European transportation and logistics management.
- Same day logistics, shipper, carrier or consulting firm experience is highly preferred.
- Bachelor or Master degree in a related field such as Supply Chain Management, Transportation, or Economics is desired.
- Strong focus on providing a quality service to internal and external customers.
- Experience with sourcing and contract negotiations with carriers/logistics providers.
- Proven leadership experience and ability to innovate, lead and implement process improvement projects.
- Experience collaborating with crossfunctional stakeholders and internal teams to achieve business objectives.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to influence others to achieve objectives.
- Able to work under pressure in a team led environment.
- Strong analytical, problemsolving, and organisational skills
- Must be insurable and maintain a valid driver's license.
