Full professorship for Otorhinolaryngology (W3)

(successor to Prof. Dr. med. Thomas Lenarz)
The post will be available from 1/10/2024.

The future post holder should represent the entire field of Otorhinolaryngology in research, teaching and patient care. The applicant must be a board-certified specialist in ear, nose and throat (ENT) medicine. He/she will be appointed Head of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at MHH.

The German Hearing Center and the Institute for AudioNeuroTechnology (VIANNA) at the Lower Saxony Center for Biomedical Engineering, Implant Research and Development (NIFE) are affiliated with the University's Department of Otorhinolaryngology.


Extensive experience in surgical and conservative ear, nose and throat medicine is expected as well as competent interdisciplinary cooperation as an important partner within the Skull Base Center and the Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC) Lower Saxony.


We are inviting invitations from proven leaders in the ENT field and researchers with international visibility and networks who are experienced in acquiring third-party funding.


Collaborations with colleagues in the existing research areas at the MHH (infection and immunity, transplantation and regeneration, biomedical technology and implants) and above all in the Cluster of Excellence "Hearing4all" is desired.

Your own research focus should be in the field of hearing research.


Special commitment to undergraduate student teaching, also in the interdisciplinary courses in the model study program Medicine ("HannibaL") and the biosciences study programs of the MHH is required.

Innovative teaching approaches are expressly welcomed.


The applicant should be able to demonstrate leadership qualities, be extremely team-oriented and have a family-friendly and cooperative management style.

Severely disabled persons will be given preference if equally qualified.
