THE POSITION:

Tasks & responsibilities:

You will guide and develop the Data & Digital Sciences Team towards a collaborative team enabling and performing highquality data science analyses covering a broad spectrum of source data from individual datapoints ranging from mass spectrometry data to videos.
In addition, your team will publish results in applied AI / ML, in peerreviewed journals and major AI / ML conferences.
Thanks to your expertise, you will identify and develop talents, enable transparent communication and knowledge sharing as well as cooperation with all groups in DDS and across Drug Discovery Research.
You will consult the DDS leadership team and all corresponding groups on data science and digitalization. Moreover, you will facilitate collaboration with other functions, stakeholders, internal and external partners (e.g., the Digital Innovation Unit, IT Groups, Translational Medicine & Clinical Pharmacology, and MedChem).
Furthermore, you will continuously develop the digitalization strategy, including the integration of cuttingedge AI and machine learning technologies.
To complement your new role, you will shape the digital vision of the DDS department, supervise, and guide digital initiatives and IT Projects and finally steer the digitalization and data science portfolio.

Requirements:

PhD in Computer Sciences, Physics, Mathematics, or comparable
Senior professional with indepth scientific knowledge and longterm experience in data science methodologies and analyses applied to challenges of drug discovery
Demonstrated track record of successfully building projects with AI / ML / mathematical modelling applied to tasks in drug discovery or life science, e.g., shown by publications in highranking peer reviewed journals and / or AI / ML conferences
Expertise in relevant tools and libraries for AI / ML in a professional setting, such as the Python ecosystem (including scikitlearn, PyTorch / Tensorflow) in an HPC environment
Extensive knowledge of machine learning from a fundamental and usecase perspective
Experience in building endtoend data science processes, ideally in an industry setting and with diverse data types
Track record in project management, conceptually driving the development and implementation of innovative approaches in data science or data analytics
Strong team player with a commitment to share knowledge through mentoring and team development
Excellent communication skills and dedicated and experience in leading people
