In order to support the AOCS/GNC & FD/MA Studies team, Airbus Defence and Space is looking for an "Development Engineer (d/f/m) AOCS/GNC & Flugdynamik:

Your tasks and responsibilities:


  • AOCS (Attitude and Orbit Control Systems) design, analysis, and verification for scientific highprecision missions as LISA and ATHENA, Earthoriented missions, or in the context of Next-Space constellations in different mission phases: from the feasibility and concept phase to spacecraft operation in orbit.
  • Usage of modern methods of control theory, robustness and stability analysis for performance verification. This includes modelling of uncertain systems, controller synthesis for uncertain systems.
  • Identification of relevant parameter combinations for execution of numerical time simulation to proof compliance to all requirements regarding attitude and orbit control systems with complex multibody dynamics and demanding pointing accuracy.
  • Autonomous execution and coordination of research and development tasks in the field of AOCS/GNC & Flight Dynamics as enabler for future missions in science, Earth observation, exploration of nearEarth objects or navigation.
  • Support the initiation of future technology developments and the acquisition of new business.

Desired skills and qualifications:


  • University degree, ideally PhD, in aerospace engineering, cybernetics or comparable discipline with focus on advanced control techniques and robust control.
  • Profound knowledge and practical experience in the field of advanced control techniques: modelling of uncertain systems, robust stability, performance, and "worstcase"analysis.
  • Very good knowledge of orbital mechanics and spacecraft attitude dynamics as well as orbit/attitude determination and control of spacecraft.
  • Good knowledge in simulation techniques, system dynamics including multibody systems and signal processing.
  • Very good knowledge in software development with Matlab/Simulink, C.
  • Experience in the support of AOCS/GNC and Flight Dynamics tasks for satellite projects in early and implementation phases.
  • Passion to drive the development and implementation of challenging spacecraft missions.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English, German and preferably French.
