PhD student (M/F/d):

to start on October 15 st 2023.

The position is to be filled on a part-time (65%) basis for an initial period of 1 year, with the option to prolong for at least another two years.

Prof. Dr. Veronika Somoza will supervise the PhD project.


Research project and work environment:


Your area of responsibility includes:


  • Investigation of nutrisensing systems (nutrientreceptorinteractions)
  • Investigation of receptor interactions (chemoreceptors mechanoreceptors)
  • Eukaryotic cell culture and transfection of cell lines
  • Gene expression analyses
  • Interdisciplinary collaborations with other groups at the LSB and beyond
  • Organizational tasks and duties

Requirements and desired expertise:

The ideal applicant should have:


  • graduation in biotechnology, food science, molecular / cell biology, or related field
- advanced knowledge and practical experience in cell and molecular biology, as well as in cell culture techniques, food chemistry, human nutrition,
- practical experience in gene expression analyses, especially quantitative RT-PCR, CRISPR-CAS9 technique and Next Generation Sequencing
- superior interest in food systems biology, and food-related research
