  • The Chief Risk Officer SSBI is responsible for leading and overseeing the risk management activities of SSB International GmbH, its subsidiaries and branches. and leads risk management teams in regional locations.
  • The role is located within the SSB Intl GmbH risk organization structure as part of the Executive Management Board (EMB) in Munich, and has a direct reporting line into the CEO, SSB Intl GmbH.
  • The CRO SSBI, is also part of the global executive leadership team for Enterprise Risk Management and reports to the Chief Risk Officer of State Street.

What you will be responsible for:


  • Develops and regularly reviews / updates risk governance frameworks (strategies, policies, procedures) within areas of responsibilities. Adjusts, monitors and communicates the Risk Appetite Framework. Responsible for risk infrastructure including data. Ensures proper execution and alignment with corporate functional strategies and local regulatory requirements. Relevant risk categories include credit, operational including technology, outsourcing, investment, treasury, market, ICAAP, RRP and fiduciary risks.
  • Reports to the CEO of the EMB of SSB Intl GmbH and, as a voting member of SSB Intl GmbH's EMB meetings, contributes to setting the strategic direction of the bank.
  • Is responsible for proactive and timely identification, monitoring and reporting of all risks and adequate communication across all hierarchy levels. Carries out the risk inventorytaking and composes the bankwide risk profile.
  • Supports the governing bodies in implementing and enhancing the risk management and risk controlling processes and the design of risk mitigation arrangements.
  • Implements and enhances a risk indicator system and an early warning system for risks.
  • Permanent monitoring of the Bank's risk situation and riskbearing capacity as well as compliance with the implemented risk limits.
  • Regular risk reporting. Issues and reviews reports on risk issues and advises governing bodies and, as appropriate, relevant 2nd level management of significant risk issues and important riskrelated information.
  • Escalation: implements and maintains processes ensuring immediate communication of material risk information to the governing bodies, otherwise responsible persons and, as applicable, also to the Internal Audit Function.
  • Identifies, escalates and oversees the resolution of exceptions to risk management policies and guidelines.
  • Acts as Head of Risk Controlling Function acc. to AT 4.4.1 MaRisk and is involved in any adjustment processes according to AT 8 MaRisk. Chairs and is responsible for leading SSBI Management Risk and Capital Committee (MRAC); leads the SSBI Credit and Market Risk Committee (CMRC) and the SSBI Technology and Operations Risk Committee (TORC). it Committee and Operational Risk Committee; organizes the Recovery and Resolution Committee (RRP), ALCO and Investment Portfolio Surveillance Meeting.
  • Represents the risk function in the Supervisory Board meetings and at the Risk Committee of the Supervisory Board.
  • Performs risk assessments of new business and products and advises executive leadership on implementation of expansion strategy through M&A and organic growth. Member of the deal team.
  • Identifies solutions for complex riskrelated issues in a multiconstituent environment.
  • Monitors the legal and regulatory development and proactively translate changes into practice. Represents the risk function towards the regulators on legal entity, subsidiary and branch level.
  • Acts as a key liaison with regulatory agencies, internal and external advisors and other internal control groups on risk related issues.
  • Leadership and management responsibility for a multijurisdictional team of 130 people including the Risk Centre of Excellence in Poland which has a global mandate.
