The Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) with its 1,100 employees has gained an excellent reputation as an international competence centre for environmental sciences.

The job:


165 scientific institutions in 28 countries collaborate towards the goal to formalize a pan-European distributed research infrastructure consisting of >250 highly instrumented ecosystem research sites as an European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC), an infrastructure-focused limited liability company with countries as shareholders.

Thereby, multi-layered and highly complex processes are to be handled for the elicitation of the needs of diverse user groups, specification and coordination with the community and between the partner countries.

The results of these processes have to be fed into the negotiations with the funding stakeholders (usually ministries of science).

The activities are mainly carried out in the course of two ongoing Horizon2020 projects, which are coordinated or co-coordinated by the UFZ (eLTER PPP, eLTER PLUS,


Your tasks:


Operating and further implementing the Head Office at UFZ:

  • Testing and further developing services & service workflows to be operated by the Head Office and therefore needed tools (ticketing system, contacts administration system, domain administration)
- contributing to the planning and scheduling the financial needs for the eLTER Head Office
- contribute to the negotiations about the resources and recruitment processes of the Head Office


Assist the eLTER Head Office coordination within UFZ and internationally

Communication and liaison:


  • Promote eLTER in relevant conferences, meetings, and networking events
- support the eLTER Overall Communication in related high-level activities
- contribute to overarching coordination towards e


LTER RI:
inter-project collaboration and harmonization (eLTER PPP - eLTER PLUS - related other projects)


Backoffice:

- contributions to technical reports in the context of the eLTER-related projects, e.g. to the European Commission
- planning and overall coordination of major virtual and physical meetings (consortia, ext. stakeholders)
- support the creation of brochures, leaflets and other information material for different stakeholder groups
- communication between eLTER Head Office and a wide range of stakeholders (eLTER sites and operators, country networks incl. their stakeholders, other RIs) and scientific expert groups

Your profile:


  • Foreign language assistant or comparable professional/bachelor's degree with corresponding foreign language certificate
  • Experience in science management
  • Good organizational and managerial skills and experience with related software (MS Office, specifically WORD and EXCEL, GoogleDrive & Cloud solutions for collaborative work)
  • Good communication skills in English, and strong interest to work in an interdisciplinary team
